Rwanda, the country where it is good to travel

15 Jul 2021 | 1 comment

Breathtaking landscapes, green mountains, exotic safaris, the modern and hectic capital that is Kigali, Rwanda, this small paradise of East Africa has, over the years, elbowed its way to the top and now ranks among the best African tourist destinations.

Between April and July 1994, 800,000 Rwandan men, women and children, mainly Tutsis, were slaughtered during the Rwandan genocide. A dark past that has, for many years, blacklisted Rwanda as a dangerous and unstable country. 26 years later, the Rwandan government has made a clean sweep of the past and has achieved a nice tour de force by rising to the top of the best African destinations.

A winning development strategy

"VisitRwanda"can be read on the back of the jersey of the football team, Paris Saint-Germain.

Rwanda has the wind in its sails thanks to a winning tourism strategy.

Indeed, in recent years, the Rwandan government has been multiplying seduction operations (partnership with Paris Saint-Germain, Editor's note)and communication campaigns on social networks, while accelerating the country's development. Ndlr.

In 2016, the carrier RwandAir increased its connectivity by opening several airlines. In the same year, new infrastructures and hotel groups were created. The national parks are rehabilitated to allow visitors to admire the Rwandan fauna and flora in all its splendor.

In 2017, the tourism sector generated $438 million in revenue.

In 2019, the land of a thousand hills is regularly cited as a trending destination and as one of the safest countries in Africa.

The new African El Dorado?

Crisscrossing the capital, Kigali, by motorbike and having a drink in one of its many trendy bars, offering yourself a road trip to meet the gorillas of the mountains, canoeing on Lake Kivu, the field of possibilities is unlimited for this small landlocked territory of The Great Lakes Africa (26,338 km2).

"Going on a stay in this East African country is surprising, but we have been talking about Rwanda for two or three years in the world of travel," explains Fabrice Dabouineau,, Director Africa of the travel agency, Voyageurs du monde.

With a desire to exponentially increase tourism in the coming years and ongoing projects including the creation of a 100% green city, one thing is certain, Rwanda has not finished making people talk about it.

Excellent article sur le Rwanda! Voilà un pays qui a su rebondir et surtout laisser le passé au passé et se concentrer sur l’avenir. Je suis admiratif!
